March 1st Electrics Contest

Hawks,

We will have an electric sailplane club contest on March 1st. As
contest director I am planning to follow the same rules we have been
using the past couple years. However, if anyone has suggestions to
change up the contest, please contact me to discuss. Otherwise, the
rules I plan to use are listed below. You have plenty of time to
tune up and practice.

TYPE OF CONTEST:

Limited Motor Run then 8-10 minute duration with a maximum 25 point
landing bonus within a 100" circle. You may charge batteries between
rounds if needed.

CLASS AND MOTOR RUN TIMES:

Traditional Speed 400 CAN motor - with 7 cell nixx or 2 cell lipo will
get a 60 second run time.

7 cell any motor – with 7 cell nixx or 2 cell lipo will get a 40
second run time.

Unlimited – any motor and battery pack having a maximum of 30 nixx
cells or a lipo pack greater than 2 cells will get a motor run time
of 20 seconds.

SCORING

One point per second up to duration time and subtract one point per
second over duration time. There will be two flight groups and
everyone within a group will launch at the same time with scores
normalized to 1000 points. Landing points will be added to the
normalized score. A minimum of 3 rounds and a maximum of 5 rounds
will be flown.

Recharging, or swapping, batteries between flights will be allowed.
